On July 28, 2019, Real Madrid cancelled Gareth Bale's move to Jiangsu Suning, a Chinese Super League outfit, a source close to the Wales forward told AFP.

Gareth Bale, 30, had been in the Spanish capital since 2013 and was expected to join Jiangsu Suning on a three-year-deal worth Sh128 million (£1 million) a week.

However, Real coach Zinedine Zidane had informed Bale that he does not form part of his future plans at the Bernabeu.

Despite this, Bale came off the bench to play half an hour in Real's record 7-3 defeat to rivals Atletico Madrid on Saturday.

Spanish daily Marca reported that Bale's family had blocked a potential move to Asia, but a source dismissed these claims, stating that those close to Bale had asked his representatives to look for clubs in Europe before definitively saying yes to Jiangsu Suning's offer.
