Deputy President William Ruto has cautioned politicians against interfering with the fight against corruption, emphasizing that they have no role in the investigation and prosecution of graft cases.
Speaking at St Anne Kibiko Catholic Church in Kibiko, Kajiado County on Sunday, Dr Ruto said it would be counterproductive for politicians to use political gatherings and funerals to lecture the Government on how to deal with corruption.
“Do not politicise the fight against corruption. The responsibility of fighting corruption has been given to independent institutions by the Constitution,” Dr Ruto said.
He also warned Jubilee leaders to be cautious of individuals who seek to tarnish the party's reputation and impede President Uhuru Kenyatta's legacy.
Dr Ruto's remarks were echoed by Kajiado County Governor Joseph Ole Lenku, who said Jubilee leaders had set aside petty politics and were focused on serving the country.
Other leaders present at the church service included MPs George Sunkuiya, Caleb Kositany, Jonah Mburu, Kwenya Thuku, Gladys Shollei, and Janet Teyiaa, as well as Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi.
