On Saturday, a GSU officer was shot dead at Wilson Airport in Nairobi after responding to a distress call.

The officer, identified as Stephene Mukangi, was manning a watchtower at the airport with a colleague when two men in jungle uniforms approached them, claiming to be police officers with a car that had developed a mechanical problem.

As the GSU officers walked to the scene, two other men in jungle uniforms joined them, prompting a scuffle and the attackers to grab the officers' guns.

Mukangi fought hard, but one of the attackers opened fire, killing him on the spot. His colleague managed to escape but lost his rifle.

Langata OCPD Gregory Mutiso led a team of officers to the scene, recovering two spent cartridges, an empty butt, and two magazines with 60 bullets.

Elsewhere, a police constable was arrested for alleged extortion in Langata, extorting money from bars and wine shops every Friday.
