On July 28, 2019, the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) clarified its stance on the installation of containers along urban roads, including the newly built 8th Street Avenue in Eastleigh.

According to KURA, it was concerned about the encroachment along urban roads that hindered the enjoyment of non-motorist traffic.

The authority condemned the installation of containers and the use of walkways and footbridges for private businesses, terming it impunity that should be condemned by all right-thinking citizens.

KURA urged county governments to protect public goods by stopping the installation of containers along streets.
