On December 30, 2018, a tragic incident unfolded in Maseno, Kisumu County, when Wifred Munyoma Ombajo, 26, allegedly killed his wife Claire Agneta, 22, after she aborted a five-month pregnancy.
According to Esther Mmbone, Munyoma's mother, the suspect had been on the run for seven months before his arrest last week.
As reported by an autopsy prepared at the Vihiga County Referral Hospital, Claire died from multiple injuries consistent with assault.
Following a psychiatric test, it was confirmed that Munyoma is of sane mind and can stand trial.
On July 28, 2019, Kakamega Resident Magistrate Noelyne Akee ordered the suspect to be charged with murder, with his first court appearance scheduled for Tuesday.
