US Marine Chris Masaka's heroic sacrifice has left his family in a dire situation. His widow, Joan Sinali, is pleading for help to give her husband a befitting send-off.

On July 26th, Chris Masaka tragically drowned in a pool while saving one of his nephews in Arizona. His nine-year-old son noticed his father struggling and called for help, but unfortunately, Chris's heart never started pumping on its own again.

Chris, a great family man, leaves behind four children and a heavily pregnant wife. His family resides in Iowa but is originally from Kenya. The army has expressed their desire to pay their respects in honorable service.

Joan Sinali has started a gofundme page to raise Sh2.5 million to settle hospital bills, cover travel, and funeral expenses. She is asking people to pray for her and her family, describing the experience of losing her husband as 'painful.'

Chris's body is expected to be airlifted back home in Ikolomani, Kakamega county for burial. Due to cultural aspects, a body is not at rest until it is placed back in its original soil.
