On July 28, 2019, Gor Mahia head coach Hassan Oktay assured fans that veteran forward Dennis Oliech would remain with the club for the new season.

Despite concerns that Oliech could join a list of players released by Gor, Oktay insisted that the former Harambee Stars captain was still part of his plans.

"Oliech is in my plans for the new season," Oktay told Goal.

He added, "I still need Oliech and he knows the same, we will use him again and we already named him in the squad for the Caf Champions League. It shows you we are banking on him again for the new season and he will be part of us,"

Oliech joined Gor Mahia in the second half of the 2018/19 season, netting five goals in as many appearances. However, he did not feature in the final matches of the season after sustaining an injury against Western Stima.

The arrival of Ivorian forward Gislein Yikpe Gnamian from Sporting Club Gagnoa has thrown Oliech's future at the club into sharp speculation.
