Published on July 28, 2019, photos of Machakos First Lady Lilian Ng'ang'a and Governor Alfred Mutua have set tongues wagging after they were shared on social media.

The pictures, which appear to capture the couple's bride price paying ceremony, show Lilian clad in a mustard yellow dress designed by Wambui Mukenyi, while Dr Mutua wore a checked shirt with black trousers and a navy blue blazer.

One of the photos shows the couple holding hands, looking expectantly at someone off-camera, followed by another where they appear relieved and even hug with joy.

Although the couple has not confirmed whether they have decided to take their relationship to the next level, their fans have made conclusions and offered congratulatory messages.

The two met in 2011 and have been together since, with Lilian taking up the role as first lady of Machakos after Dr Mutua's election as governor.
