On Saturday, President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga, the leader of the Orange Democratic Movement, secretly met in Dubai. The two leaders returned to Kenya yesterday, with Raila arriving at 4PM and President Uhuru following six hours later.
According to an inside source, the meeting was a significant development in the country's politics, with the two leaders laying the groundwork for a solid political infrastructure ahead of the 2022 elections.
President Uhuru has been frustrated with the constant attacks from Deputy President William Ruto and his team, which have hindered his efforts to combat corruption and implement his handshake with Raila.
"The president and Raila Odinga met several times in Dubai from Saturday. I can confirm the meetings happened and they were very long meetings. You can take this to the bank that the country's politics is about to change for good. Watch this space," said the inside source.
President Uhuru's initial plan to visit Saudi Arabia was changed due to the Ramadhan celebrations, and he instead decided to spend time in Dubai, where he was joined by Raila. The two leaders shared the same hotel building from Saturday to yesterday morning.
As President Uhuru returns to Kenya, Kenyans can expect a more assertive leader focused on his legacy, with anyone who tries to interfere with his agenda facing consequences.
