Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, has hinted at an upcoming update that will enable Tesla owners to stream their favorite content on YouTube and Netflix while their cars are parked.

When fully autonomous vehicles become a reality, owners will be able to enjoy their favorite shows and movies while on the go, pending regulatory approval.

The update will utilize the large displays in Tesla vehicles, which currently provide information to the driver and offer entertainment options such as music, games, and Easter eggs.

According to Musk, the update will provide an 'immersive, cinematic feel' due to the comfortable seats and surround sound audio.

Currently, Tesla's gaming features only work when the car is parked, with drivers using the steering wheel as a controller. It remains to be seen whether dedicated game controllers will be introduced in the future.

One potential challenge with the update is how the vertical screens in Tesla's Model S and X will handle video streaming.
