On Saturday, July 27, 2019, Kenya's basketball team, the Morans, faced off against Democratic Republic of Congo in the final match of the Africa Cup of Nations, held in Bamako, Mali.
The Morans had a remarkable run in the tournament, defeating traditional African basketball powers Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Tunisia, and Morocco along the way.
However, their fairy-tale run came to an end as they lost to the same opposition they had faced in their Group 'B' opener, 65-82, on July 19.
Despite a strong start, Kenya's turnovers in the second half proved costly, allowing the Congolese to take a six-point lead and eventually win 82-61.
Despite the loss, Kenya's Tyler Okari and Bush Wamukota were recognized with individual awards during the closing ceremony.
