Francis Atwoli, the Secretary-General of Central Organisation of Trade Unions (Cotu), has urged Deputy President William Ruto to come forward and record a statement regarding the Sh63 billion Aror and Kimwarer dam scandals.

Speaking at the burial of Kenya Engineering Workers Union official Fredrick Odindo in Siaya County on Saturday, Mr. Atwoli accused the Deputy President of using his community and proxies to prevent the government from investigating graft cases.

Mr. Atwoli alleged that Deputy President Ruto had intimidated President Uhuru Kenyatta into appointing his loyalists to key agencies, including the Kenya Pipeline, Kenya Power, and Cereals Board, to facilitate the theft of public funds.

He called on President Kenyatta to take action against those responsible for the graft and to turn those found innocent into state witnesses.

Mr. Atwoli also targeted Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, demanding that they be grilled over their alleged involvement in the Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal.

He criticized Deputy President Ruto for pretending to support the President's war on graft while his lieutenants were discrediting the President.

Mr. Atwoli also faulted governors for demanding an additional Sh19 billion, urging them to manage the Sh316 billion allocated by the National Assembly.
