Neil Armstrong's death in 2012 left behind a lucrative legacy, but his family members are now at odds over how to divide the wealth. According to court records, Armstrong's wife, Carol, chose not to participate in the settlement, receiving 'zero' compensation.

However, Armstrong's stepchildren, Mark and Rick, received the bulk of the hospital's payment, approximately $2.6 million each. Armstrong's surviving brother and sister received $250,000 each, while his six grandchildren received $24,000 each.

A lawyer representing the grandchildren argued that they had suffered the greatest loss of time and affection due to Armstrong's passing. The lawyer, Bertha G. Helmick, wrote that the grandchildren had lost a 'universally beloved and revered grandfather' who had played a significant role in their lives.

Published on July 27, 2019, the court filing highlighted the complex and emotional nature of the dispute.
