At least 10 soldiers have been killed in separate attacks on Pakistan security forces, with the military blaming 'terrorists from across the border' for the violence.

On Saturday, a military vehicle was ambushed in the country's mountainous northern areas bordering Afghanistan, resulting in the deaths of six soldiers.

The attack occurred near Gurbaz in the North Wazirstan region, where 'terrorists from across the border' fired on a patrol, according to a military statement.

Just a day earlier, four paramilitary officials were killed in an ambush by unidentified militants in the restive southwestern Baluchistan province.

The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), also known as the Pakistani Taliban, claimed responsibility for Saturday's attack, while no group has claimed responsibility for Friday's attack.

These attacks come days after a meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, which focused on Pakistan's role in helping to broker a political settlement to end the nearly 18-year-old U.S. war in Afghanistan.

Despite Pakistan's efforts to pacify the region, small-scale attacks continue to take place, particularly in the North Waziristan region, where Pakistani forces have conducted operations against militant groups.

Baluchistan, where the second attack occurred, is an important part of transport and energy projects that form part of China's Belt and Road initiative, which has brought $57 billion of investment to Pakistan.

Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed his condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers, saying, 'I salute our armed forces personnel who continue to lay down their lives fighting terrorists to keep the nation safe.'
