On July 27, 2019, Bahrain executed two men convicted of terrorism offenses, sparking international condemnation.

The men, identified as Ahmad al-Malali and Ali al-Arab, were Bahraini citizens who were convicted in a mass trial last year.

Human Rights Watch has alleged that the trial was marred by allegations of torture and serious due process violations.

The executions were carried out by firing squad, with a third man also reportedly killed on the same day, although his conviction was not connected to the al-Malali and al-Arab cases.

AFP reported the executions, citing unnamed sources.
