Beyoncé Accused of Copying Spirit Music Video from South African Singer

Published on July 27, 2019

Queen Bey has been making headlines in South Africa for her role in the remake of Disney's The Lion King, but her efforts have been marred by allegations of copying a South African singer.

According to citizens of South Africa, Beyoncé's Spirit music video is too similar to Petite Noir's visual album, La Maison Noir: The Gift and the Curse.

While making comparisons of the two videos, South Africans noted the location and costumes used in Beyoncé's video were all similar to Petite Noir's.

They argued that the entire concept of Beyoncé's Spirit video was originally Petite Noir's.

Some, however, thought the whole debate was just a bluff.

Take a look for yourself and let us know if you think Queen Bey copied Petite.
