On July 27, 2019, outgoing British High Commissioner to Kenya Nic Hailey announced that the UK would deny visas to Kenyans accused of engaging in corruption.

Hailey emphasized that these individuals would also be prevented from conducting any business within the UK.

He called on the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to supply the UK with a list of all individuals implicated in corruption, to be added to the UK's blacklist.

“EACC should provide us with a list of those implicated in corruption so that we can stop them from traveling to the UK,” Hailey said.

The UK is committed to helping Kenyan investigative authorities, including EACC and Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), to build strong cases against graft lords.

Hailey acknowledged that corruption cases often take a long time to present to court due to the need for water-tight evidence.

He expressed the UK's commitment to helping Kenyans fight corruption by taking decisive actions, rather than just discussing solutions.
