On Friday, Korea Infrastructure Urban Development Corporation (KIND) opened its infrastructure cooperation center in Nairobi, Kenya, marking a significant milestone in the country's infrastructure development.
The Nairobi office is the fourth global office of KIND, following its presence in Uzbekistan, India, and Vietnam. The event, held at Radisson Blu, was attended by over 70 invited guests, including officials from both Kenya and Korean governments.
Speaking at the occasion, Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure and Urban Development, Nancy Karigithu, emphasized the importance of infrastructure development in economic growth. She appreciated the opening of KIND's office in Nairobi, saying it would serve as a pipeline for transferring Korea's economic development know-how to Kenya and other African countries.
According to KIND's Business Development Director, Lim Han-kyu, the new office will serve as a trusted partner, working together to find answers and provide support. Seok Hong Sung, KIND's Managing Director in Nairobi, added that Korea will make efforts to become a catalyst for sustainable PPP business realization.
During the event, Eastern and Southern African Trade and Development Bank (TDB) and KIND signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate on infrastructure financing in the region. The partnership aims to facilitate projects and infrastructure development, leveraging Korea's innovative experience in infrastructure and urban development.
Established in June 2018, KIND is an organization that supports Korean companies in project planning, feasibility studies, project information, and project bankability. Its activities aim to contribute to life quality improvement and sustainable growth in partner countries.
