On July 27, 2019, a dramatic raid took place at the Karen home of Rashid Echesa, the former Sports Cabinet Secretary, who was sacked just days earlier.
Armed officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation's Special Crime Prevention Unit descended upon Echesa's residence, sparking a heated exchange between the former CS and the media.
According to records, the officers recovered 15 bullets and seized Echesa's Beretta pistol during the operation.
When questioned about the raid, Echesa initially denied any knowledge of the incident, stating, 'Which police officers? Am not aware of such a thing.'
However, he later claimed that the officers had not taken away his gun and bullets, and that all his gun licenses were intact.
Pressed for details, Echesa refused to explain why the police had visited his home at night to confirm his gun licenses.
The police are now seeking to account for an additional 35 bullets, which Echesa is believed to have in his possession, despite being allowed only 50 bullets under his firearms certificate.
A senior officer stated, 'We want to know where the other bullets are, now that police only recovered 15 from him.'
