On June 13, 2019, a heated incident unfolded at the Parliament Parking lot in Nairobi, involving Wajir East Member of Parliament Rashid Kassim Amin and Wajir Women Representative Fatima Gedi Ali.

According to reports, the altercation occurred when the Budget committee, of which Gedi is a member, allocated funds to four Wajir constituencies but excluded Wajir East. The MP allegedly slapped Gedi, causing her bodily harm, which is considered assault.

Rashid Kassim Amin denied the charges and requested to be released on free bond, citing that he had already presented himself to the police. However, the chief magistrate released him on a bond of Sh100,000 with one surety or an alternative cash bail of Sh50,000. The hearing has been pushed to August.
