On a sunny Friday at the Busia County stadium, the inaugural Busia Vocational Training Centres (VTCs) ball games came to a close with Amaase and Butula emerging as champions.

After a closely contested first half, Daniel Ajore rose high to nod in Joseph Ochuchu's corner kick in the 53rd minute, securing a crucial 1-0 win for Amaase over hosts Busia Township.

Butula, on the other hand, were crowned champions in the women's category after beating Nangina 3-1 on penalties following a goalless draw in normal time.

Busia Township's defeat to Amaase was a consolation for the hosts, who went on to lift the men's volleyball title after beating Amagoro in straight sets of 25-20, 25-18, and 25-19.

Nangina lifted the women's volleyball title after beating Busagwa 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-14) in the other final.

Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong expressed his administration's commitment to supporting sports activities in the county, stating that the competition had revealed the county's hidden talents.

County Executive for Education John Mwami announced that the county is ready to host this year's edition of the Kenya Youth Inter-county Sports Association games in November after beating Kitui to land the hosting rights.
