On July 27, 2019, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) ordered Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu to turn himself in to the commission's headquarters in Nairobi.

Waititu, along with his wife Susan and Eng Luka Mwangi Waihenya, was wanted in a Sh588 million graft probe.

However, EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak stated that the trio could not be traced at their known residences.

Meanwhile, three suspects, Charles Mbuthia Chege, Joyce Ngina Musyoka, and Simon Kabacho Kangethe, were arrested early Saturday morning.
