Published on July 27, 2019, a list of big names has emerged as eyeing Vihiga county public service board jobs, with politicians who lost in the 2017 political contest dominating the list of those shortlisted for the interview.

According to sources, Governor Wilbur Ottichilo is likely to pick Jairus Amayi, his political adviser on economic issues, as the chairperson of the board. However, Amayi's chances are threatened by his Bunyore roots, similar to Ottichilo's.

Other big names featured in those eyeing for the position of board members include former Vihiga MP Yusuf Chanzu, Asienwa Biggood, Rhoda Mbandu, Julius Sikalo, Lornah Obiri, Dorcus Kedogo, Newton Okwiya, Wilberforce Kitiezo, Luke Andeka, Wilson Karani Khaniri, and Abisa Nancy.

Many are of the opinion that since Ottichilo is from Bunyore, he is likely to appoint an outsider for the slot to consolidate his powerbase and avoid backlash in his native home turf.
