Published on July 27, 2019, the Kenya Police hockey team celebrated a hard-fought victory in the Nairobi Sikh Union Astroturf Inauguration Tournament.

Kenya Police were crowned champions after a 1-0 win over visiting Sports Authority of India (SAI) at the club's newly inaugurated Astro turf.

Govan Mbaki scored the winning goal in the 50th minute, securing the home team's victory and SAI's only defeat of the tournament.

SAI had a strong showing in the competition, beating Sikh Union, United States International University of Africa (USIU-A), and Greensharks, but were unable to break through the police defense in the finals.

Meanwhile, in the women's contest, SAI's ladies team emerged victorious, defeating Telkom 1-0 with Bhavani Madugula scoring the winning goal in the 29th minute.

SAI had a dominant performance in the semis, thrashing Greensharks 4-0, while Police dismissed hosts Sikh Union 2-1.

Sharks finished third after beating Sikh Union 3-2 in a penalty shootout, with Daniel Obunyasi putting Sharks in the lead six minutes into play and Harvir Gathaurae restoring parity 12 minutes later.
