On July 14, 2018, Kabarak University hosted the second edition of the Kabarak University Half Marathon, featuring a 21-kilometre race.
Fast forward to today, the same university is set to host the Athletics Kenya Universities Championships, a highly anticipated event that promises to be a thrilling spectacle.
Over 15 universities will be participating in the championships, including Kabarak, Egerton, Strathmore, Dedan Kimathi, Moi, Kibabii, University of Eldoret, Kabianga, Kenyatta, Masinde Muliro University of Science Technology, and Kabianga.
Other participating universities include Technical University of Kenya, United States International University, Mount Kenya, Laikipia, Masai Mara, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, and University of Nairobi.
Athletics Kenya Universities chairman Paul Tuitoek expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating that the team will select a squad to compete in the national championships set for Nyayo Stadium on August 20th to 22nd.
“We long to see our athletes taking part in the national championships. We know the National Police Service, Kenya Defence Forces, Kenya Prisons, and some AK branches will present some of the best athletes. But we can also challenge them in the national championships,” said Tuitoek, the Kabarak University team manager.
