Ken Okoth, the 41-year-old Kibra Member of Parliament, has died after a long battle with stage four colorectal cancer.
Okoth passed away on Friday at Nairobi Hospital, where he had been undergoing treatment.
He was rushed to the hospital on Thursday evening in critical condition and was put on life support at the Intensive Care Unit.
Okoth had returned to Kenya less than three weeks ago after an extended medical trip abroad, where he had been receiving treatment for his cancer in France.
During his time in Europe, Okoth had been updating his followers on social media about his progress, including a tweet in March where he said, "Napambana na hali yangu kabisa. Chemo drugs are brutal on the skin and immunity system."
Okoth had been diagnosed with stage four colorectal cancer with metastases to the liver and had been using chemotherapy tablets to manage his condition, which he said could not be cured.
Before his cancer diagnosis, Okoth had been on treatment for ulcers and bacterial infections for about a year.
