Ken Okoth, the Kibra MP, passed away on December 16, 2014, after a long battle with cancer. His death has sent shockwaves across the country, with leaders from all walks of life expressing their condolences to his family and friends.
President Uhuru Kenyatta was among the first to express his shock and grief, saying, 'It is with a heavy heart that I have this afternoon received the sad news of the death of Kibra MP Ken Okoth. Death has robbed us of an astute legislator. May God comfort his family, friends and indeed all Kenyans during this difficult period of mourning.'
ODM leader Raila Odinga highlighted Ken's bravery in the fight against cancer, saying, 'I'm deeply saddened by the passing of our MP. Ken battled Cancer with unique bravery while serving his voters to the last minutes of his life. May God grant peace and strength to his family and may he rest in peace.'
Ken Okoth was elected as Kibra MP in March 2013 and re-elected for a second term in the 2017 general elections. He will be remembered for his commitment to his duty as Kibra MP and his efforts to transform the constituency.
