Published on July 26, 2019, former champions Strathmore Gladiators are set to take on United States International University (USIU) in a highly anticipated men's hockey Premier League match at City Park Stadium on Saturday.
Strathmore, who are currently at the bottom of the 10-team standings, will be targeting their second win of the season against USIU, who are placed sixth in the log.
Gladiators have had a tough run this season, losing in five outings, while USIU have one win, four draws, and two losses.
According to Gladiators coach Meshack Senge, "This is a varsity derby and it's always going to be a thriller considering the bragging rights at stake." He added that a second win of the season would be a significant boost for his team.
Meanwhile, Western Jaguars will face defending champions Butali Sugar Warriors at Eregi Teachers College ground on Saturday. Butali are the only side yet to taste defeat this season, having won four of their outings and drawn thrice for their tally of 14 points.
Butali Sugar coach Dennis Owoka expressed concerns about Jaguars' lethal home form, saying, "Jaguars are lethal at home and we must tread carefully."
Other matches scheduled for the weekend include Wazalendo vs. Parklands and several men's Super League and National League matches.
