On July 26, 2019, the Sikh Union Astroturf Inauguration Tournament came to a close with Kenya Police men's team claiming the top spot.
Kenya Police's Govan Mbeki scored the winning goal in the 50th minute, securing a 1-0 victory over Sports Authority of India (SAI) in the men's final.
Police coach Patrick Mugambi attributed their success to a well-executed strategy, saying, "Our strategy to stay at the back and capitalise on their mistakes worked well for us. Giving them the chance to roam around in our area would have been dangerous to us."
Meanwhile, in the women's category, Sports Authority of India (SAI) emerged victorious, defeating Orange 1-0 with Bhavani Madugula's goal at halftime.
Greensharks finished third after beating host Sikh Union 3-2 in a post-match penalty shootout, which followed a 1-1 tie at the end of normal time.
