On July 26, 2019, UAP Old Mutual insurance company launched the Go-Plus App, a digital health monitor designed to encourage customers to adopt healthy living habits.
Developed in partnership with Amber, an outpatient centre in Nairobi, the app aims to engage users before they fall sick by monitoring their physical activities and rewarding them with points redeemable for holiday treats, gym membership, and Old Mutual solutions.
Managing Director of UAP Old Mutual, David Kuria, explained the company's objective: 'When it comes to health insurance, we get to engage you when you come to the hospital, but we want to change this trend by starting to engage you before you get to the point of seeing a doctor.'
The Go-Plus App will be available on the App Store for iOS users and the Play Store for Android users.
UAP Old Mutual also has a Chronic Disease Management program (CDMP) that ensures members adhere to their medication schedules and monitors their progress.
Founder of Amber, Rhoda Jura, noted that the app will help citizens reduce healthcare costs by preventing lifestyle diseases, which can become costly to manage if left unchecked.
