Published on July 26, 2019, Kenya's men's national basketball team, the Morans, are on a high after reaching the final of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Bamako.

Shooting guards Tyler Okari and Eric Mutoro are among the key players who will be vying for the top scorer's award in the final against the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Okari, who plays professionally for the Danish club Bakken Bears Aarhus, has been outstanding in the tournament, scoring 20 points in Kenya's 96-66 win over Morocco in the semi-finals.

He has also played the most minutes at the championship, staying on the court for 40 minutes against the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Mutoro, a 27-year-old career soldier who plays for the Kenya Defence Forces team Ulinzi Warriors, has also been impressive, scoring 32 points against Morocco and pushing his points tally to 80.

The Kenyan team, comprised of largely unknown players, has also produced new stars in Bush Wamukota and Ronnie Gundo, both students at American universities.

Coach Cliff Owuor praised the team's performance, saying they were solid defensively in the first half and did a lot of things right.
