On July 7, 2019, Kibra MP Ken Okoth attended the Kibra Music Fest at Moi Girls School in Nairobi, accompanied by other City leaders, in his first public appearance after returning from France where he had been receiving treatment for colorectal cancer.
Just 10 days later, Okoth's condition had worsened, and he was rushed to Nairobi hospital. The 41-year-old MP has been battling stage four colorectal cancer for several months.
Okoth's bravery in his fight against cancer has earned him praise from State House, with Spokesperson Kanze Dena issuing a statement on Tuesday, urging Kenyans to support each other in battling the disease.
“Allow me to mention a great son of Kenya, the Member of Parliament for Kibra Constituency Mheshimiwa Ken Okoth who has recently returned to the country after months of treatment in France,” read the statement.
