Ken Okoth, the Member of Parliament for Kibra, has died after a long battle with stage four colorectal cancer.

Okoth, 41, had been serving his second term in office and had shown confidence in his ability to overcome the illness, despite the dire prognosis.

As recently as March, Okoth had told Kenyans that he was managing his condition and would survive, saying in a Twitter reply to Benjie Wambui, 'Napambana na hali yangu (I'm managing my condition) and we shall overcome.'

Okoth had attended the Kibra Music Fest at Moi Girls School, Nairobi, before his passing.
