On July 25th, Mozzartbet Kenya Limited announced that the Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB) had renewed their Bookmakers License for the 2019/2020 financial year.
The license renewal comes just a week after Mozzartbet was cleared of tax fraud by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), along with nine other betting firms.
According to a statement seen by Business Today, Mozzartbet had fulfilled the BCLB's requirements for renewal, including paying a fee of Sh 100,000 and submitting a sealed Bank Guarantee of Sh 250,000 valid for 12 months.
With their license renewed, Mozzartbet joins Betika as the only two betting firms currently licensed to operate in the country.
As a result, betting traffic is expected to migrate to these two firms, with gambling addicts who cannot afford to stay loyal with one site using Betika since the pay bill numbers of the remaining 27 betting companies were withdrawn.
