On July 26, 2019, a brazen carjacking attempt took place in London, targeting two Premier League footballers.
Arsenal players Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac were driving through the Platts Lane area, near Golders Green, when they were confronted by an armed gang.
According to eyewitnesses, the gang attempted to steal their vehicle, but Kolasinac fought off the attackers, chasing them down the street.
Footage of the incident, which has circulated on social media, shows Kolasinac jumping out of the car to confront the masked men, who were wielding knives.
Fortunately, both Ozil and Kolasinac escaped uninjured, and the police were quickly notified.
As reported by the Metropolitan Police, the suspects on motorbikes had attempted to rob a man driving a car, but the driver and his passenger managed to get away unharmed.
This incident is not an isolated case, as several other footballers have been targeted on London's roads in the past.
Former West Ham striker Andy Carroll was threatened at gunpoint in 2016 on his way home from training.
