Kenyan politician Ken Okoth, 41, Member of Parliament for Kibra, has been rushed to the ICU at Nairobi Hospital.

This development comes two weeks after Okoth made his first official public appearance since being away in France for five months seeking treatment for stage four colorectal cancer.

Okoth had attended the Kibra Music Fest at Moi Girls School in Nairobi, where he showed confidence in his ability to overcome the disease.

‘I’m managing my condition and we shall overcome,’ Okoth said in a Twitter reply to Benjie Wambui, who had asked how he was doing.

Okoth had shared pictures of himself after undergoing chemotherapy, saying, ‘Chemo drugs are brutal on the skin and immune system.'

Meanwhile, Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso has been transferred from the ICU to the North Wing ward, where she is still under the management of ICU doctors and nurses.

Laboso had travelled to the United Kingdom on May 29th this year for a month-long stay to receive medication, with several high-profile visitors, including ODM leader Raila Odinga and Chief Justice David Maraga.

Former governor Isaac Rutto and Chepalungu MP Gideon Koskei have since left for India to visit Laboso, who is receiving further treatment.
