Ex-KVDA Boss David Kimosop Arrested at JKIA Amid Kimwarer, Arror Dams Scandal

David Kimosop, the former managing director of the Kerio Valley Development Authority, has been arrested at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on July 26, 2019, in connection with the Kimwarer and Arror dams scandal.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Kimosop was arrested after returning from Tanzania and is currently being held by police as he awaits arraignment.

He is facing charges of abuse of office, flouting procurement laws, facilitating irregular payments, and other offenses that led to the loss of billions of shillings in taxpayer money.

Alongside 27 others, including former Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich and his Principal Secretary Kamau Thugge, who were charged on July 23, 2019, Kimosop is accused of being involved in the scandal.

Others charged over the same include Tourism and Wildlife Principal Secretary Susan Koech and National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) boss Geoffrey Wahungu.
