On July 26, 2019, a brazen carjacking attempt unfolded in a London street, involving two Premier League footballers from Arsenal.

According to the Metropolitan Police, the incident occurred in Platts Lane, near Golders Green, at approximately 17:00 BST. Two masked men on mopeds attempted to rob a car driven by Arsenal players Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac.

However, the duo managed to escape unharmed and sought refuge at a nearby restaurant, where they were met by police officers.

Sead Kolasinac, the Arsenal full-back, was seen fighting off the carjackers in a video that circulated on social media. The footage shows Kolasinac jumping out of the vehicle to confront the masked men, who were wielding knives.

"We have been in contact with both players and they are fine," Arsenal stated in a statement.

Despite the efforts of the police, no arrests have been made so far in connection with the incident.

It's worth noting that this is not the first time footballers have been targeted on London's roads. In 2016, then West Ham striker Andy Carroll was threatened at gunpoint on his way home from training.
