On Sunday evening, a magnitude 4.8 earthquake shook Kenya, affecting various parts of the country including Nairobi, Kiambu, Machakos, Mombasa, Nyeri, Makueni, and Naivasha. The epicenter of the quake was pinpointed as Taita Taveta.

According to the MET department, there is no risk of a tsunami at the coast, following an earlier alert that advised residents to move to higher ground.

However, the aftermath of the earthquake was visible in Nakuru county, where motorists using the road that passes through Fai Mario in Naivasha were cautioned against using the road due to the tremors.

Traffic Commandant Samuel Kimaru warned that a bridge linking a section of the road in the region has developed cracks, prompting the deployment of traffic police officers to divert traffic until clearance to use the bridge has been issued.

Residents in the region have been advised to heed to instructions until clearance to use the bridge has been issued.

It's worth noting that a 2-kilometer fault line sparked fear in Moi Ndabi area on the outskirts of Naivasha town last year, with at least 16 families having to move to higher ground after sections of their homes sank.
