NASA Claims Raila Won August Election Based on Server Results ¶
January 26, 2018, Nairobi, Kenya - NASA Senator James Orengo has claimed that the alliance has evidence that Raila Odinga won the August 8 presidential election. This is based on server results that NASA claims show Raila Odinga and his running mate, Kalonzo Musyoka, as the legitimate winners of the vote.
According to Orengo, the server results show that Raila Odinga garnered 8.1 million ballots in the vote, compared with 7.9 million for incumbent President Uhuru Kenyatta. This, Orengo claims, proves that the IEBC's relayed results had been tampered with.
Kenya's Supreme Court invalidated the result of the August election in September, after the electoral commission failed to disprove the opposition claim that the ballot was rigged. Uhuru Kenyatta was subsequently sworn in for a second and final term on November 28, after winning the October re-run.
Over 80% of Kenyans participated in the August election, but the number that took part in the October re-run was down to 25%. The IEBC reported a 38.84% turnout.
Orengo said that if the commission opens the server today, the results would be similar to what they have. The Opposition has presented a report on the results of the August 8 election, and Raila Odinga's January 30 swearing-in will be based on the same.
