Traffic Police Officer Foils Attempted Robbery in Nairobi

On Thursday morning, a dramatic scene unfolded near Nairobi Montessori Preparatory School, where a motorist engaged in a fierce struggle with a traffic police officer in his car.

A viral video captured the intense confrontation, which drew the attention of bystanders who intervened to pull the officer out of the vehicle.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the suspect, 41-year-old David Gikambura, was arrested at Gikambura within Kikuyu by detectives based in Karen.

The police officer's mobile phone, which had been robbed earlier, was recovered, and the motor vehicle registration number KCT 730Q was confiscated.

Mr. Gikambura is set to be arraigned in court tomorrow.

As reported by @DCI_Kenya, the suspect will face charges related to the attempted robbery and the ensuing struggle with the police officer.

On July 25, 2019, the DCI Kenya tweeted: “Detectives based in #Karen arrested the suspect; 41-year-old David Kariuki Kamurwa at Gikambura within Kikuyu. The Motor vehicle registration number KCT 730Q confiscated & a Mobile phone which had earlier been robbed from the officer recovered. To be charged tomorrow.”
