On Thursday morning, a dramatic incident unfolded in Nairobi, capturing the attention of onlookers and sparking a police response.
A driver, who was involved in an accident in Karen, was stopped by traffic officers on Ngong Road near the Nairobi Montessori Preparatory School.
However, the situation quickly escalated into a violent confrontation between the driver and a police officer, which was caught on camera.
According to Nairobi traffic police commander Joshua Omukata, the driver had caused an accident and traffic officers had radioed ahead to their colleagues to be on the lookout for the car.
As the officer attempted to enter the car, a fierce fight ensued, with the driver holding an object that was not immediately clear.
Despite the officer's attempts to hang on to the car's open door, the driver accelerated and left the scene, leaving the officer to be dragged out by pedestrians.
Lang'ata OCPD Gregory Mutiso confirmed the arrest of the driver, who is expected to be arraigned in court on Friday.
