On July 25, 2019, Arsenal announced the signing of Dani Ceballos on a one-year loan deal from Real Madrid, marking the club's second signing of the summer.
The 22-year-old midfielder will take the club's No 8 shirt, following in the footsteps of previous Arsenal players who have worn the number.
Ceballos cited the draw of working with Arsenal's Spanish manager Unai Emery as a key factor in his decision to join the Gunners.
"I knew I had the confidence of the coach, which was very important for me from the start," Ceballos said in an interview with the club's website.
Emery expressed his delight at adding a player with technical and creative ability to his squad ahead of the 2019/20 season.
"We're excited to see Dani join us. He is a talented player with big technical ability, creativity and precision," Emery said.
