This archive report was first published on 25 July 2019.

On July 22, Pastor Lucresia Magabi, her assistant Jackson Onchari, and Dorcas Nyanchoka were charged with the theft of the baby in Migori.

However, the case took a surprising turn when the mother of the baby, a 32-year-old woman, was trailed to Mathare in Nairobi and arrested.

According to Migori CID boss Mr. Njeru Nyaga, the woman was arrested and transferred to Kehancha Police Station in Migori, where she is waiting to be arraigned.

On July 14, the baby's mother gave birth, and on July 18, Pastor Magabi was told to buy the child, which she did on July 18.

When Pastor Magabi and her accomplices were arraigned on July 22, they denied the charges of child stealing contrary to section 174 of the penal code.

The hearing of their case has been set for July 29, and the infant has since been moved to a local children's home in Migori.
