Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi has been away from the assembly since her impeachment on September 6, 2018, after a section of MCAs voted against her in her absence.
Ms Elachi was reinstated as speaker by the Employment and Labour Relations court in Nairobi in May 2019, but she has yet to return to the assembly.
Speaking during an interview with Jeff Koinange on Citizen TV on Wednesday night, Ms Elachi stated that she will only return to the assembly after the current leadership is reconstituted.
She emphasized that the leadership of the assembly must be re-looked into by both Jubilee and ODM leadership before she considers making a comeback.
Ms Elachi expressed her gratitude to God for giving her the grace and a sober mind to move on from the assembly drama.
“I moved on and I thank God for giving me grace and a sober mind. I saw these are guys (MCAs) who just want to kill my career and to avoid unwanted sicknesses and stress so I had to move on,” said Ms Elachi.
