Workspap, an online platform, has been connecting jobseekers to employers and internships, giving hope to jobless Kenyans. The platform has a base of over 20,000 users and has largely contributed to bridging the widening gap created by dwindling jobs in the formal employment sector.
Among the professionals that one can hire from the platform are plumbers, electricians, drivers, carpenters, and even masons. The site links professionals to internship opportunities, attachments, job advertisements, and tenders.
Mike Kabala and his wife Awinja were in a fix when their fan and fridge stopped working due to a power outage. They tried to troubleshoot the issues but failed. They then turned to Workspap to find an electrician to fix the appliances. After searching for a suitable expert, they contacted Bernard, an electrician, who fixed both the fridge and fan by 8:30 pm.
Workspap has managed to emerge as East Africa's most trusted platform connecting job seekers to employers and jobs since its establishment in 2017. The platform is user-friendly and can be accessed using a phone or computer. An Android user application is also available for download on Google Play Store.
Some of the strategic partners Workspap has brought on board include Afric Mzizi Safaris (Hospitality), Big Data Solutions (Human Resource), Bloc Projects Ltd (Construction), Dewmag Technologies Ltd (ICT), and Kensafe Security Limited (Security) among others.
Signing up and using the site is free for clients while service providers only pay KSh 200 as a monthly subscription to continue marketing their skills on the platform.
