On September 2019, Samsung Galaxy Fold will make its official return in major markets, following a series of design issues that led to its initial cancellation.

The issues arose when some review units developed problems, including user-induced damage to the screen protector, which was an integral part of the screen.

However, Samsung has since strengthened the areas around the top and bottom of the hinge by adding new protection caps, and the Fold will also get extra protection to prevent dust or small particles from entering the hinge area.

Here are the key changes made to the new Galaxy Fold:

  • The top protective layer of the Infinity Flex Display has been extended beyond the bezel, making it clear that it is an integral part of the display structure.
  • Additional reinforcements have been added to protect the device from external particles while maintaining its foldable experience.
  • Protection caps have been added to the top and bottom of the hinge area.
  • Additional metal layers have been included underneath the Infinity Flex Display to reinforce the protection of the display.
  • The space between the hinge and body of Galaxy Fold has been reduced.

The redesigned Galaxy Fold will also come with more optimized apps and services to take advantage of the foldable design.

It remains to be seen whether the price of the Galaxy Fold, nearly $2,000, will change, but there are rumors that the release of this device in smaller markets might be delayed.
