On July 25, 2019, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 users in Europe started receiving the latest July 2019 security update. Now, the same update is finally available in Kenya, carrying software version N950FXXS7DSG1.

The update is expected to bring the QR code reading feature to the camera app, similar to the Galaxy S8 and S8+ which received this feature via the July security patch. This means that users will no longer need to rely on Bixby Vision or third-party QR reader apps to scan QR codes for Wi-Fi networks, website links, and calendar events.

Instead, the camera app will handle QR code scanning, and users may need to enable the 'Scan QR codes' feature from the camera settings to use it. The firmware was made available online yesterday, and users may have to wait until next week before receiving the OTA download notification.

To check for the availability of the update, go to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
