Kenya Judge Issues Arrest Warrant Against Governor Nyong'o Over Contempt

On September 6, 2018, Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o delivered a state of the county address at the Grand Royal Swiss hotel.

Fast forward to July 25, 2019, when the High Court in Kisumu issued a stern warning to Governor Nyong'o, ordering his arrest over contempt of court.

According to reports, Lady Justice Tripsisa Cherere issued warrants of arrest against Governor Nyong'o and his sister Risper Nyagoy after they failed to honour summonses issued by her court.

The judge directed Kisumu County Commander Benson Maweu to effect the arrests, committing the duo to a month of civil jail each.

The two were required to appear in court for the hearing of a dispute over an estate.
