Kothbiro Football Tournament Enters Quarter-Finals ¶
The 41st edition of the Kothbiro Football Tournament has reached its quarter-finals stage, with several teams competing for a spot in the semi-finals.
On Thursday, July 25, 2019, the quarter-finals stage kicked off at the iconic Ziwani Sports grounds, with several matches taking place.
Among the teams competing in the quarter-finals are Ping fc from Kawangware, who dismissed Ruaraka All Stars in a thrilling match to set up an appointment with Kingstone fc from Shauri Moyo.
Kingstone, nicknamed the 'carnivores,' have steadily been improving in the tournament's ranking since they transformed from the highly volatile Lebanon FC.
They defeated their 2018 season nemesis Bundes FC by 2 goals to 1 in a thrilling match.
Another team competing in the quarter-finals is Umeme Bees, who are on a roll despite just managing a hard-fought solitary goal in the 86th minute against Soka Talent.
The Bees, featuring a highly entertaining young team that utilizes the Samba system of play, squeezed through their round of 16 match against Soka Talent from Kibera.
They will square off against Nyoi in a match that has been declared as the pre-mature finals.
Nyoi, popularly known as 'team ya ofisi,' are responsible for eliminating teams from Majengo, who are their perennial and fiercest rivals.
The quarter-finals fixture is as follows:
- Thursday, July 25, 2019: 12pm - Ping fc vs Kingstone
- Thursday, July 25, 2019: 3pm - Umeme Bees vs Nyoi
- Friday, July 26, 2019: 12pm - Allin Jua-Kali vs Napoli fc
- Friday, July 26, 2019: 3pm - MASA vs Dallas fc
The semi-finals will be played on Saturday, July 27, and Sunday, July 28, with the finals scheduled for August 3.
